Outdoor Carpentry

Outdoor carpentry designed around your home and the way you live

Property Plus builds, improves and repairs outdoor areas for Sunshine Coast homes.

From timber and composite decking to pergolas, privacy screens, external stairs and pool surrounds, our team creates practical outdoor spaces that connect naturally with the existing property.

Every project is considered around the site, intended use, weather exposure, materials and ongoing maintenance—not simply how it will look on the day it is finished.

Overview

Good outdoor carpentry starts beneath the finished surface

The visible boards, posts and screens are only part of an outdoor project.

The performance of the finished structure also depends on its footings, framing, connections, drainage, ventilation and exposure to the elements.

Before recommending an approach, we consider:

How the area will be used
The size and layout of the property
Ground levels and site slope
Connections with the existing home
Drainage and moisture movement
Exposure to sun, rain and coastal air
Access beneath or around the structure
Pool and boundary requirements
Material and maintenance preferences
Stairs, handrails and balustrades
Available plans and engineering

This helps create an outdoor area that feels stable, practical and properly connected with the surrounding home.

  • Engineered subframes sized for span, load and slope
  • Concealed, corrosion-rated fixings for a clean surface
  • Decks, pergolas, screens and stairs integrated as one
  • Finishes and coatings suited to full Queensland sun
What’s included

Outdoor carpentry work

Property Plus can complete individual outdoor projects or combine several services into one connected improvement.

Decking

Create a practical extension of your living area

A deck can provide space for outdoor dining, improve access to the backyard, surround a pool or replace an existing structure that is no longer safe or functional.

Property Plus builds and repairs:

Hardwood and timber decks
Composite decks
Poolside decking
Entry decks and landings
Elevated decks
Deck extensions
Replacement decking
Deck stairs and handrails
Damaged deck subframes

The decking material, fixing system and supporting structure are considered around the site and intended use.

Pergolas & gazebos

Add shade, shelter and definition to the outdoor area

Pergolas and gazebos can make exposed yards, patios and decks more comfortable and usable.

Property Plus can assist with carpentry for:

Attached timber pergolas
Freestanding pergolas
Garden gazebos
Pergolas over decks
Poolside shade structures
Open-batten pergolas
Roof framing for covered outdoor areas
Pergola repairs
Connected privacy screens

Where roofing, drainage, engineering, electrical work or another specialist service is required, those responsibilities should be clarified before construction begins.

Privacy screens

Privacy screens can reduce overlooking, provide shade and help define different areas of the yard.

They may be used beside:

Decks
Pergolas
Pool areas
Outdoor dining spaces
Side boundaries
External stairs
Utility areas
Neighbouring windows
Outdoor showers

Options may include timber battens, horizontal slats, vertical screens or proprietary screening products.

Screen position, spacing and height should be considered around privacy, airflow, appearance and any relevant pool or boundary requirements.

External stairs

Safer access between different levels of the property

External stairs need to provide reliable access while standing up to regular use and weather exposure.

Property Plus can assist with:

Timber external stairs
Entry stairs
Deck stairs
Garden stairs
Pool-area access
Intermediate landings
Timber handrails
Balustrades
Stair repairs
Replacement treads and structural timber

The appropriate design depends on the height, available space, ground conditions and applicable documentation or building requirements.

Why our outdoor work lasts

Why homeowners choose Property Plus

Built around the actual site

Ground levels, drainage, weather exposure, access and the condition of existing structures are considered before construction begins.

Experience across the complete outdoor area

Our team works across decks, pergolas, privacy screens, stairs, handrails, repairs and connected timber structures.

This makes it easier to consider how each part of the outdoor area relates to the next.

Careful connections and finishing

Post positions, board alignment, stair transitions, screen spacing and connections with the home all affect the finished result.

Good to know

Outdoor questions, answered

How long does a deck or pergola take to build?

Most residential decks and pergolas are built within one to three weeks on site once approvals are in place. We give you a firm timeline with your quote and keep you updated throughout.

Do I need council approval?

It depends on the height and size. Where certification is needed, we handle it for you as part of the project so nothing gets missed.

Hardwood or composite decking — which is better?

Both are excellent. Hardwood gives natural warmth with some upkeep; composite is near maintenance-free. We’ll talk you through the trade-offs for your home and budget.

Can you add stairs, screens or a roof later?

Yes. Because we handle every part of the outdoor build, we can design your deck so balustrades, privacy screens, stairs or a pergola integrate cleanly now or down the track.
